THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND
AS TOLD BY OWNER, NICOLE COLTMAN
Owning a retail boutique has been my dream for as long as I can remember, and I always knew deep down that I would eventually make it happen. After completing Fashion School in Toronto in 2010, I moved back to my home town of Belleville, Ontario.
I pursued a career at Mode Elle Modelling & Acting Agency and became and invaluable member of their team with over eight years of experience and a collection of insights into the fashion industry.
My childhood dream of owning a retail boutique soon became a reality under one of the most unfortunate and unrealistic circumstances. On the eleventh of July, 2016, my mother Karen passed away suddenly and everything changed.
My mother was a woman who gave herself completely to charitable work and had a passion of wanting to help others, which she was widely known for across her friends and family. KC Closet was established with her in mind, the initials representing her name so she's always close to me.
Mama K had always encouraged me to start my own business by opening a boutique, it was only just a matter of time. So this one is for you Mom, thank you for always supporting me and encouraging me to pursue my dreams!
Nicole graduated from the Fashion Arts Program at Humber College in 2010. She's worked collectively in sales and retail for 10 years and has learned that she loves working closely with people to provide exceptional customer service and fashion advice.
She currently resides in the beautiful Prince Edward County, where she enjoys spending the majority of her time. Whether it be touring around to the various winery's, hitting the beach, shopping with her girls, or just being at home with her puppies and boyfriend - she's absolutely loving the country life!
One of Nicole's favourite things to do is travel. Her favourite places include:
South Africa, where she had the opportunity to live and volunteer for a month
Turks & Caicos, which quickly became a family favourite spot after a family vacation
The Caribbean, where she travelled around for a total of 8 months while working on a cruise
Her favourite spots amongst these trips include: Jamaica, St. Thomas and beautiful Cozumel.
